Don’t Get Deep-Sixed by Something Deep-Wired into Our Brains

If stories about those who had it all only to lose it suddenly and often through no fault of their own isn’t enough to convince you to counter bad intentions with Ad Intentions.

Then let’s step outside our species and talk about brachyurans, aka crabs.

When you put a crab in a bucket, it’ll simply escape.

But add other crabs to the bucket, and they won’t let the would-be escapee leave. They’ll claw him back down every time he starts up.

Which, of course, means they ALL become part of whatever meal they’re being made into.

It’s spawned the phrase, “crab mentality”.

So, what’s this got to do with you and your biz?

There’s evidence this behavior is “deep-wired” into us, even though this “self-destruction mode” is counter to our survival instincts.

You see, we’re wired to avoid loss 2x more than we are to have success. It’s called loss aversion.

So when someone sees your success—and I mean anyone: sibling, friend, co-worker, neighbor, etc…

It triggers this deep-set feeling of having (potentially) lost something, that their piece of pie is now smaller.

They see your promotion or your relationship happiness or nice raise or new house or whatever as a threat.

And their bad feelings are 2x strong as their good feelings would be if they’d gotten what you have.

They’re spiteful, resentful, vengeful… Some have so-called “shack envy”.

If I can’t have it, neither can you, smashbait..

Messed up, right? But you’ve seen it happen. If not to you, then to someone else…

So consider this a much-needed reminder:

It’s all the more crucial for you to develop and sustain the mindset of people like Cato, who overcame slavery and a severe handicap to become a powerful Senator in the Roman Republic…

I’ll put it this way:

If it’s deep-wired in those around you to act in ways that’ll prevent you from climbing and succeeding and making a better life…

Then shouldn’t you adopt premeditatio malorum to protect yourself better against loss…

And amor fati to be steeled against bad intentions and consequences?

Shouldn’t you study the concepts of people in dire straits and facing frightening obstacles who not just overcame them…

But positively thrived as a result…

And then apply them ruthlessly to your life?

That’s a question only you can answer.

It helps to have Ad Intentions.

It’ll help teach and guide you… a tool to leverage to get the most out of your biz…

But it’s NOT a copy-and-paste activity, so if that’s what you’re looking for, this ain’t the place.

It’s your call, though… it won’t be easy to succeed in biz and meet your goals whether you have Ad Intentions or not…

But your chances could dramatically rise, although there’s no guarantee of it…
