A Lesson on Oceanfront Property
Came an email from a Mr. X:
Dave, “premeditatio malorum” was thought-provoking. But don’t you think people are more prepared for the bad than you think? Isn’t having savings being prepared? A company having business insurance and access to legal advice isn’t being prepared? A freelancer having multiple clients?
Seems like you’re overstating things there…
Gotta be honest…
That’s pretty shallow . There’s no evidence of critical thinking by Mr. X.
There’s so much to take apart there, but since Mr. X is still on my email list (for now), and it’s not something he should be allowed to have access to…
It’ll take Ad Intentions for you to find out more about my very substantial answer.
But I will say this, which is lesson enough for now…
First, if you really think many people, biz owners, freelancers, etc., have the “preparation” that Mr. X called out…
The ones he implies are no-brainers to have…
Then I’ve got a spectacular house on amazing tropical oceanfront property in Fargo to sell you.
While I do grant that those things should be no-brainers and at least the bare minimum to have as preparation for your biz or career…
The fact is… most people, biz owners, freelancers, etc., either aren’t very smart or do dumb sh!t all the time for an infinity of head-scratching reasons.
Second, Mr. X is failing to do what I keep imploring you to do:
Take what I say, critically contemplate it, then ruthlessly apply it to your biz in your unique way…
What works for me won’t work for you if you simply copy and paste… and the reverse is true, too…
If I’m using quotes from philosophers about business and copywriting, wouldn’t just a little bit of critical thinking conjure up that I’m implying “preparedness” is more than simply having savings or business insurance?
I will grant Mr. X this, however: a freelancer with multiple income streams is a better example, but even that would have to be applied a little more critically.
Make no mistake, using premeditatio malorum as your guide means a deeper, more layered approach to being prepared.
Mind you, it takes time to get to that level. It never “happens overnight”, despite what people tell you.
But it does have to start somewhere.
And if you master it, you’ll laugh at “challenges” or “obstacles”...
And turn them into reward$.
It’ll also infuriate enemies, backstabbers, fake friends, people with bad intentions, and more.
Even more, if you ruthlessly apply it, you’ll have more tangible reward$ than the admittedly satisfying intangible of revenge.
But for more on how to love your fate and how to apply it starting immediately…
